I’m Chanpory, and this is my site on how to live and work better as a designer.

You should follow me on Twitter here.

For more, check out the archives.

Being a designer is a curse. Why? Because everything around you looks like crap. That includes menus, signs, websites, business cards, and worst of all, greeting cards. Go down the greeting card aisle in any drugstore, and you’ll soon be overloaded with banal cartoons, flowers, and kittens. And don’t even get me started on the typography.

So where can you find tasteful greeting cards that don’t gouge out the eyes?

Try these independent greeting card printers and designers. They won’t have the Hallmark crown on the back. But that’s a good thing.

There’s always Moo.com for making your own or choosing from all the other designs they have! I like these choices though.

I am amazingly luckey to have an interesting card shop withing walking distence of my office :-) People always comment on my cards, how they are unusual or for some people, down right funny :-)

So, for anyone in Reading, Berkshire, UK go to Bt Is It Art? off Broadstreet, in cross street I think, very very worth it

Does anyone think that independantly designed cards occasionally come off a whole lot more contrived than Hallmark, simply from trying too hard to be unique?
