Ever wonder where the iPhone antenna was hidden? Here’s Apple’s official answer:
Clever iPhone engineering integrates those antennas into a few unexpected places: the metal ring around the camera, the audio jack, the metal screen bezel, and the iPhone circuitry itself.
Amazing.
With all that ingenuity, it’s a shame Apple will force in-store activations on its buyers.
Thanks to Ryan at DDO for pointing this out.

The question is, “Is that any different from the iPhone 1.0?” Did they implement this after realizing that the signal wasn’t being received as well as it should be?

Truly is some crazy engineering-based design, ain’t it? Sounds like Aussies are gonna have a better deal than Americans when it comes to iPhone; apparently we’ll have the option to buy the phone outright, or buy it on prepaid.

In-store activations? No big deal. They’ll get the faithful.
Eventually, they’ll get even more of the market. You’re right – they should lower the threshold of entry even further.

You can alternatively do an at-home activation if you sign an agreement stating you will do so within 30 days of purchase.
