DesignsterThe design world is getter closer together with Designster, a social networking site for designers to network for jobs, show off work, or just make new friends. It was created by my former teacher, David Karam, and his San Francisco design studio, Post Tool. Although still in development, Designster looks quite promising. I like the casual and friendly feel—a refreshing break from the impersonal, cluttered, and sterile interface of Linkedin.

Is it just me or has the site (posttool.com) been down for the last few days. The idea sounds great, but I just keep getting “the site posttool.com cannot be found” messages, which saddens me. :(

Hi. This project began as “Hatester” in response to Friendster’s insipid nature. I decided to host it for a year and learn from it. 6000 angry high school students later, I shut it down. No one would advertise. The content was, uh, pretty hateful.

A year or so later, I reskinned it as Designster, as an illustration for a pitch (which we did not receive). Anyway, it is not in active development. I would love to actually ‘finish’ it, but I would need it to relate to business in some way.

David, thanks for comment! Sorry to hear Designster isn’t in active development. But perhaps it could be ported over to Ning.com!
