What Happened to the LifeClever Magic?

Posted in: Lifehacks

Long time reader Jason Sanders recently sent me an email:

I have to say: I loved your site. It was a great combination of design tips and productivity. I even learned how to properly format my resume from your article “Give your resume a face lift” which helped me get a job.

Thank you.

But lately your site has become indistinguishable, from the dozens of “lifehacking” blogs and sites that have popped up all over the net. Now your focus seems to be about lists and top ten ways of doing… something. It doesn’t seem as unique anymore and that makes me sad. The personal touch that made it interesting seems to be gone.

Jason’s absolutely right. I’ve shirked my duties.

David’s doing a fantabulous job holding up the productivity end, but I’ve indeed let the site stray from its original vision: a place to get tips for productivity and design.

How did I let this slip? In short, I bit off more than I could chew. Along with a full-time job, trying to have a social life, and maintaining a blog, I enrolled in a course at Stanford. Oops. I underestimated the amount of work, resulting in lots of late nights and blog neglect.

I just took my final exam and class is now officially over. Grades aren’t in yet, but I’ll definitely be taking it easier next quarter. This means I’m back, and will putting up regular posts about design and super cool things. I want to bring the magic back, and I’ll work hard to keep design as integral part of the blog. So if you’ve got suggestions and criticisms, don’t hesitate to share your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks to everyone who’ve stuck with the site.
